Santa Clarita's Best Karaoke Night
Every Wednesday at 8PM. No cover. Full bar. The most unforgettable karaoke night in the Santa Clarita Valley has been happening right here for years and it is not slowing down.
A Karaoke Night Built on 140 Years of History
There is no other karaoke night in the Santa Clarita Valley quite like Wednesday night at Eighth and Rail. Tucked inside one of the oldest bars in Los Angeles County, the stage at Eighth and Rail has a character that cannot be manufactured. The exposed brick, the warm lighting, the long bar lined with cold drafts, the crowd that shows up week after week because they know this is the real thing.
It is not a chain bar. It is not a hotel bar with a rented karaoke system. It is a 140-year-old neighborhood pub in Old Town Newhall that has earned its reputation one Wednesday night at a time, and the people who have found it do not stop coming back.
Whether you are a seasoned performer who arrives with a setlist or someone who has never touched a microphone in their life, Eighth and Rail welcomes all of it. The crowd here does not judge. They cheer. And that energy is exactly what has made this the most talked-about karaoke night in the Santa Clarita Valley.
The most unforgettable karaoke night in Santa Clarita happens in a bar that has been pouring drinks since 1878.

What Makes It Different
Your Wednesday Night
The Bar That Has Been Here Since the Beginning
Eighth and Rail is not a bar that opened last year. It is the continuation of a drinking establishment that has stood at this address in Old Town Newhall since 1878, originally known as Derrick's Saloon and holder of the first liquor license ever issued in Los Angeles County. The bones of this building were built for exactly what it still does today, bringing people together around a bar and giving them a reason to stay.
Owned by Louise Castaldo and Kerry Malony, with head bartender Frankie Gunn anchoring the bar program, the team has built on that foundation to create one of the most beloved neighborhood bars in the Santa Clarita Valley. They have made deliberate decisions about what kind of place Eighth and Rail would be: genuinely welcoming, community-driven, full of real character, and worth making a habit out of.
Karaoke Wednesday is the purest expression of everything they have built here. It is free to get into. It starts at an hour that makes sense for the neighborhood. It runs in a space that was designed for gathering before gathering was an industry. And it has become something that thousands of SCV residents have already made a regular part of their week.
The Bar Behind the Night
Birthdays, Work Nights Out, and Celebrations
Karaoke Wednesday at Eighth and Rail works exceptionally well for groups. Birthday parties, bachelorette nights, work team outings, friend reunions, first dates that need a story to tell, casual gatherings that turn into something memorable by 10PM. The bar accommodates groups naturally, without requiring reservations or minimum spends.
The no-cover policy means the financial barrier of walking in is zero. The bar menu means the drink options are good enough that even people who claim they are not karaoke people tend to find their enthusiasm changing as the night goes on. The food menu means nobody has to leave to eat. And the stage means that by the end of the night, the person in your group who said they were absolutely not singing has already performed twice and is considering a third.
For larger groups, a quick call to (661) 255-7833 is always appreciated. No formal reservation is required, but a heads-up lets the staff take care of you properly. Eighth and Rail is at 22505 8th Street in Old Town Newhall, with street parking available along 8th Street and nearby blocks.
